Old Lighthouse Café
The Old Lighthouse, built in 1897, is the second oldest lighthouse in Iceland and also the second oldest concrete building. Now restored to near original condition it sometimes has a new role as a coffee house during the summer season. The Old Lighthouse Café offers its guests coffee, tea, beer, wine and light refreshments but above all fantastic view and great experience in an absolutely unique environment.
The lighthouse served seafarers around Garðskagi Point for almost 50 years, when the new lighthouse was built. It most likely saved many vessels as the area is probably the most hazardous coastal waters around Iceland.
At the time it was built there weren't many concrete buildings in Iceland and now it is the second oldest concrete building in the land.
It is a great place to be on those beautiful summer evenings when the sunset in Garðskagi attract many visitors.
The Old Lighthouse can be rented for private meetings, parties or groups outside opening hours. It is suitable for groups of up to 25-30 people. We can serve drinks and light refreshments.
The Old Lighthouse has four floors, counting the top balcony, and can seat about 25 people. The lantern house on top is a great place to enjoy a drink and the fantastic 360° view of Garðskagi and the Atlantic ocean.
